The P/ETS
system at Edwards AFB enables real-time tracking
of all assets base-wide using the GPSFlight STXe,
compressed protocol, and software. The
software has been integrated into the AFB
information systems to give pinpoint location
for all assets.
Edwards has
deployed 7 Ethernet/RF base stations around the
base to cover the area. Trackers pass in and out
of the different 'cells' and are always tracked.
Compared to the cost of deploying 7 cellular
towers, or other solutions, GPSFlight was
dramatically less expensive, and provides much
better location granularity.
