Make your own Flying
Telemetry UAV!
Flying the RC-Aircraft
with the STXe onboard
and the digital
altimeter module (DAM),
we can see very accurate
altitude readings. As
GPS altitude is
generally accurate, it
takes a few seconds for
the GPS Alt to
re-compute, and with
moving objects that is
seen as a delay.
The GPSFlight Digital
Altimeter augments the
GPS data with updated
altitude data accurate
to a few feet, and
reacts much faster.
The STXe can run from
the same battery your
receiver uses, and with
onboard voltage reading
can keep you informed
about the battery level
for your radio! |

The MovieStar is
a twin prop
electric. Here
it is setup with
twin
Permax480speed
motors, and
2.3:1 gearing.
Onboard is a
3300mah battery,
and the STXe.
The STXe is so
light, the plane
did not have to
be re-balanced.

Here is the
screen from
GPS-TEAM as the
flight took
place at 60
Acres Park As
you can clearly
see, the flight
was pretty well
constrained to
the park
area. At the
very end of the
flight you can
see the alt
change when I
pick it up and
walk back to the
car! |
