GPSFlight Selected to Provide GPS Telemetry for Inaugural Space Flight From the New Mexico Spaceport

GPSFlight, the leader in high performance, miniature wireless GPS telemetry, is pleased to announce it has been selected as a technology provider to UP Aerospace, Inc. for the historic inaugural space launch of their SpaceLoft(TM) XL rocket from the New Mexico Spaceport this summer.

GPSFlight's micro-sized STXe telemetry tracking devices and GPS-Team tracking software have been integrated with pre-launch telemetry tracking systems to gather critical data about atmospheric conditions from all altitudes, such as wind speed and direction. The STXe tracking modules will be sent into the upper atmosphere aboard weather balloons specifically designed for space flight planning. The STXe modules are capable of transmitting WAAS GPS, barometric pressure, temperature, and other information at speeds up to 10 times per second, and for distances of up to 60 miles. This data will then be fed into launch-control computers to create an atmospheric profile from ground level to the upper atmosphere, to insure proper rocket trajectory and other parameters.

GPSFlight and UP Aerospace are committed to lowering the cost of space flight, thus presenting greater opportunities for private businesses and educational institutions to create more effective (space related) products, and conduct more economically efficient scientific research.

Jerry Larson, President of UP Aerospace explained, "We are counting on GPSFlight to deliver important atmospheric conditions data that is vital to the successful launch of our SpaceLoft XL(TM) rocket." Larson continued, "The affordability and performance of the GPSFlight technology will make it an important part of our launch program success today -- and into the future."

Craig Kairis, CEO of GPSFlight elaborated, "UP Aerospace is proud to provide cost-effective access to space for thousands of corporations and educational institutions who would not otherwise have this exciting opportunity. We are delighted that our technology will enable UP Aerospace to achieve a safe, successful, and low-cost space-launch program for years to come."

About GPSFlight

GPSFlight's advanced telemetry provides the most cost effective, long range GPS tracking solution available in the market today. The company also develops and manufactures hardware and software that delivers a complete communications package allowing customers to easily set up wireless networks (without the need for cellular or satellite communications), and to also track and monitor assets in realtime, whether in the air, or on the ground. Another attribute of this unique technology, is the ability to track thousands of assets at one time over long distances, utilizing the ISM 902-928 unlicensed frequency band at up to 10 times per second. This gives the user an effective way to track assets, at a fraction of the cost of cellular. GPSFlight customers include commercial, military, and recreational companies worldwide. GPSFlight Selected to Provide GPS Tracking for Edwards Air Force Base

TUKWILA, WA – GPSFlight, the leader in high performance, miniature wireless GPS telemetry, is pleased to announce it has been selected as a technology provider to Edwards Air Force Base for tracking base personnel and vehicles as they travel in and around the practice bombing range to help insure the safety of base workers and security at the base. The GPSFlight tracking system is a combination of base stations, tracker units, and software which can be rapidly deployed to cover large areas such as military bases and cities.

Several GPSFlight base stations have been strategically placed around Edwards to provide a low cost tracking solution without the need for cellular or satellite services.  The GPSFlight STXe Micro Transmitters will be carried by  range personnel.  The system is capable of tracking hundreds or thousands of people (or vehicles) on one time while updating the control tower with vital location/position data every few seconds.  The solution enables the range supervision to have precise locations of all personnel over the 200 square mile base to increase safety of base operations.

Gary Daneshmand, Program Manager 412 Test Wing explains,  “We are counting on GPSFlight to deliver important location information that is vital to the welfare or our Base personnel working around certain areas of the Edwards AFB Base”  Daneshmand continued, “The performance and flexibility of the GPSFlight technology, and the fact it eliminates monthly cellular charges makes it more cost effective than other systems.

GPSFlight is an important part of our overall safety program at Edwards AFB" which enables tracking and monitoring the locations of multiple personnel and vehicles operating on the PIRA (e.g., East Range and West Range) 24/7 and display their position to the Range Safety Officers graphical user interface(GUI) in main terminal Control Base Station at West PIRA  or to those organizations who need to know where, when, and how fast their assets are moving in Real-Time.

Craig Kairis, CEO of GPSFlight elaborated, “GPSFlight is proud to be part of a program that enhances range safety and are delighted that our technology will help enable Edwards Air Force Base to increase safety and security for years to come.

About Edwards Air Force Base:

Edwards Air Force Base occupies territory once explored by Spanish colonists and settled by pioneer homesteaders. The military base began as a stark and remote bombing range in 1933 and went on to become a major bomber training base in World War II. The Air Force Flight Test Center originated during the darkest days of the war, and has since achieved more major milestones in flight than anywhere else in the world.
